Thank you Iwata-san, you are going to be missed. Satoru Iwata, Nintendo’s president, has passed away on July 11, 2015 at age of 55. He has been a game programmer and the fourth president of Nintendo. He was interested in technology and believed that computers would change the world.Iwata entered the Game World too early as he started to produce electronic games during his high school years. Then he has almost reached his goal by majoring computer science at the Tokyo Institute of Technology. He started his real career when he worked at HAL as a programmer and helped in creating major games such as Kirby’s Dream Land. Few years later, he was promoted as the president of HAL Laboratory. Iwata has even helped to develop Pokémon series before joining Nintendo, and finally in 2000 he took the president position at Nintendo.
Satoru Iwata wasn’t just the president of Nintendo, he was one of the most popular public figures in video games. Iwata’s products and leadership at Nintendo has inspired many video game developers and icons in the industry. Indeed, Mr. Iwata was an important and significant contributor to the development of the gaming industry. Reggie Fils-Aime, president of Nintendo of America, says that Mr.Iwata was a strong leader whose impact on Nintendo and the whole video game industry will not be forgotten.
Satoru Iwata was like a gamer who has been loved by all people. He has opened communication with his fans and cared about their suggestions. He was also responding to their questions through Nintendo’s Wii website, Iwata Asks. Thank you Mr.Iwata, we are going to miss you.
